From engineering to installation at Baltic Power

SAL has successfully completed its transition piece installation scope for the Baltic Power offshore wind farm, marking an important milestone for both the project and MV Lone.

Supporting the installation of all 76 transition pieces, MV Lone played a key role in completing this phase of the project. The campaign represents the vessel’s first transition piece installation project and demonstrates the integrated offshore capabilities available within JSI Alliance.

SAL’s scope extended well beyond transport and lifting. It included the design and fabrication of dedicated installation and lifting tools, as well as a custom seafastening grillage engineered specifically for the operation. Engineering, technical management, vessel operations and offshore execution were closely coordinated throughout the campaign.

To support the offshore teams on board, MV Lone was also equipped with a fully owned eight-layer Temporary Living Quarter (TLQ), providing modernised workspaces and comfortable accommodation throughout the project.

Each offshore installation cycle followed a carefully coordinated sequence: from warning light removal and flange cleaning to mooring installation, lifting and positioning of the transition piece, bolting and final completion works.

Close alignment across all disciplines was essential to maintaining safe and reliable execution in demanding offshore conditions. Working together with Van Oord and the wider Baltic Power project team, the campaign brought together specialised engineering and operational expertise both on board and ashore.

Baltic Power is set to comprise 76 offshore wind turbines and represents a significant development in Poland’s transition towards renewable energy. We are proud to have contributed our expertise to this important project and to continue supporting the development of offshore wind energy.
