Jumbo Fairpartner Delivers Shiploader for QatarEnergy Project
A complex heavy lift operation completed under challenging conditions supports terminal expansion in Ras Laffan.
Complex cargo.
Controlled execution.
A 685-tonne shiploader was transported from Tianjin, China, to Ras Laffan, Qatar, supporting the QatarEnergy North Field Expansion Project.
The heavy lift vessel Jumbo Fairpartner has successfully delivered a 685-tonne shiploader for the QatarEnergy North Field Expansion Project.
The shipment supports a key infrastructure upgrade at the sulphur terminal in Ras Laffan, Qatar.
Following months of preparation and close coordination with project partners, the shiploader was safely loaded in Tianjin, China, before being transported to Qatar for discharge.
The operation required precise engineering and execution. Due to the shiploader’s high centre of gravity and narrow lifting points, careful planning was essential to ensure a controlled and safe lift.
In addition to the technical complexity, the team operated under extreme heat conditions. Strict heat-stress management protocols, including adjusted work/rest cycles, shaded working areas and continuous hydration, ensured safe working conditions throughout the operation.
This delivery marks the completion of the final major crane infrastructure component for the terminal upgrade. Earlier in the project, a radial shiploader had already been transported for the same development, with this delivery completing the set.
