First Heavy Lift Call at Mongla Port for Jumbo Kinetic

Jumbo Kinetic loads barges and a crawler crane in Bangladesh, marking a heavy lift milestone for Mongla Port.

New port milestones.
Powerful lifting capacity.

Four barges of approximately 440 tonnes each were lifted directly from the water at Mongla Port using Jumbo Kinetic’s heavy lift cranes.

The heavy lift vessel Jumbo Kinetic recently completed cargo operations at Mongla Port in Bangladesh, loading four second-hand barges and one crawler crane.

The operation marks an important milestone for the port, which hosted a heavy lift vessel equipped with high-capacity cranes for the first time.

Each barge, weighing approximately 440 tonnes, was carefully lifted directly from the water using newly installed lifting eyes. This method allowed the cargo to be handled safely without the need for the traditional belly sling technique, improving both safety and operational efficiency.

With its two heavy lift cranes and a combined lifting capacity of 3,000 tonnes, Jumbo Kinetic was ideally suited for the complex loading operation. The cargo handling required precise coordination between vessel crew, port teams and project stakeholders to ensure a smooth and controlled execution.

Following completion of the loading operations, the barges – previously used for dredging activities in the Pashur Channel – are now en route to China.
